Our Patron Statement

The Swiftel Center strives to provide all patrons with an equal opportunity to participate in all services, programs, and activities. This includes those patrons with accessible needs resulting from physical or mental disabilities. In order to achieve an equal opportunity for all patrons, the Swiftel Center has implemented policies and procedures which have heightened awareness of the needs of individuals with disabilities.

Certified Sensory Inclusive

Swiftel Center staff are trained and certified to assist guests with sensory sensitivities in having the most comfortable and accommodating experience possible when attending an event. Certification is provided by KultureCity, a leading non-profit recognized nationwide for using its resources to revolutionize and effect change in the community for those with sensory needs. Sensory sensitivities or challenges with sensory regulation are often experienced by individuals with autism, dementia, PTSD and other similar conditions.

Breastfeeding-Friendly Business

Our facility provides a welcoming environment for mothers to breastfeed in comfort. Swiftel Center staff are trained to assist guests in locating a private area so mothers can sit and relax while feeding. Our "Breastfeeding Welcome Here" sign on our ticket office window marks our dedication and support. The Swiftel Center has completed the Breastfeeding-Friendly Business pledge in association with HealthySD, a community resource from the South Dakota Department of Health.

2016 ABLE Award Winner

The Swiftel Center received the 2016 ABLE (Ability, Belief, Leadership and Effort to Achieve Access For All) Award for its inclusive seating design. The ABLE Award is an annual award program designed to recognize the outstanding commitment of a business or public entity in fulfilling the goals of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Highlighting the efforts of an outstanding business or entity may motivate others to provide improved accessibility to goods and services. It is presented each year in conjunction with the celebration of the anniversary of the signing of the ADA into law by President George Bush on 7/26/1991.
