Brookings, S.D. (5/2/2018) – Area dairy producers invite you to be their guest at the 2018 Dairy Fest on Saturday, June 2, in celebration of June Dairy Month.
The farm comes to you with a carnival at the Swiftel Center in Brookings. The free family event will include tons of hands-on, family friendly activities. Cow and calf petting area; a corn and soybean box with farm toys; inflatable bounce houses; and a straw bale maze are just some of the activities that will be at this year’s event. Attendees can enjoy free samples of SDSU ice cream, cheese snacks, and coffee with creamer. There will also be a Hy-Vee “Cooking with Dairy Demonstration” along with the opportunity to get your picture taken with the SD Dairy Princess. Free SDSU ice cream will be served until it’s gone for carnival participants. The carnival will be held from 10a.m. to 1:30p.m.
Wondering how SDSU ice cream is made? Tour the SDSU Davis Dairy Plant for a behind-the-scenes tour of how dairy products are made. Tours will be given at 10a.m. and 10:30a.m. and buses will run continuously from 10a.m. to 10:30a.m. from the Swiftel Center to bring participants to the dairy plant; handicap busing is available.
Join us for a free lunch and tour of Old Tree Farms. These tours will take place from 11a.m. until 1:30p.m. This will be a great opportunity to see the workings of a modern family dairy farm. Free grilled cheese sandwiches will be served. Free bus transportation to the farm will be provided with buses leaving from the Swiftel Center; handicap busing is available.
The fun begins at 10:00a.m. and is all completely free! To learn more, visit www.swiftelcenter.com/dairyfest
