ABOUT THE AMERICAN JUNIOR SIMMENTAL ASSOCIATION NATIONAL CLASSIC
The American Junior Simmental Association teaches what it takes to develop lifelong confidence in communication and team working skills – building an understanding of the beef industry while developing leadership, networking, and communication skills – and thus building successful leaders.
The American Junior Simmental Association was founded in 1975 and has nearly 3,000 active junior members and is governed by 16 AJSA Trustees. The Trustees promote the Simmental breed while assisting in new programs and strengthening the leadership of junior members.
Each year, the American Junior Simmental Association holds their National Classic event in July and is hosted by a state association. Junior members prepare all year-around for this event. Heifer, bull, and steer shows showcase the weeklong event along with educational contests. Educational contests include Cattlemans quiz, Genetic Evaluation quiz, Sales Talk and Livestock Judging. Juniors are required to compete in three out of the four contests to exhibit their cattle. These contests build lifelong skills to help develop and grow each junior into our future leaders. The National Classic is also a time to have fun, meet new fellow members and gain knowledge of the beef industry.
